What are you looking for?

I know what I'm looking for
won't spring up at me
through scrolling tweets,
paintings on instagram,
or perusing online shops
with jewelry shaped like sweets,
printed tees close enough to match
my idea of absurdity
nor fanfiction
starring fictional people
in fictional love
with fictional problems
nor youtube
where performance is framed
as authenticity
but it all feels real to me
and the question still rings
like the daily alarm
'what are you looking for?'
the answer is dark
because I'm forging my light
and where I go, I don't know
when it waxes or wanes
as I navigate a path not made
